You do not have to read the entire sentence in the exam hall. Follow my Three-Second Rule to eliminate wrong options fast:
- Hunt for V3: A passive voice sentence must have a “be” verb combined with a V3 form.
- Strike Out Fakes: If an option skips the “be” verb, cross it out immediately.
- Watch the “-ing”: If the active sentence has an “-ing” form, your answer must feature being. If it has “has/have,” your answer must feature been.
TCS-Pattern Example Breakdown
Question: The board is conducting the annual examinations.
Step 1: “Is conducting” tells us this is Present Continuous.
Step 2: The matching passive structure must use is/am/are + being + V3.
Step 3: Rearrange the parts. The object becomes the subject (The annual examinations), add the helping verb (are being), convert the main verb into V3 (conducted), and finish with the agent (by the board).
Correct Answer: The annual examinations are being conducted by the board.
